Não acho normal as diferenças de temperatura que estão a ocorrer neste momento, mas enfim, o Benfica está a sete pontos de ser campeão e não tenho que estudar. So... não estou chateada!

Technology

The concept of technology is complex and controversial. In fact, there are people who defend that technology is essential for the economic and social development and others who point out the disadvantages of it such as pollution and social inequalities which come from this progress.
To begin with it is important to notice how the world has changed in such a short time. Only a few years ago, people could not imagine the world like it is today and probably in fifty years we will say the same. Programmes like facebook, google, or hotmail are part of most people’s everyday and it is probably more complicated to live nowadays without using these programmes than not using them and for that reason most of the people who are between 7 and 60 years old could not imagine their lives without the internet.
However, there are plenty uses of technology and not all of them are consensual in terms of being described as “good” or “bad”.
On one hand, the main purpose of the new technology, allegedly, is the comfort. Thus, seeing by this point, technology could not be more efficient. Nowadays you do not have to leave your house to buy groceries or videogames or books, so most of the things that are available in the market are purchasable by the internet; within a day you can be in the other point of the globe; in a second you can be in touch with whoever you want unless he or she doesn’t have a phone or a computer which is pretty atypical in the twentieth century.
On the other hand, as the technology growths exponential we can see it as something which is ruining costumes and old traditions or changing the bases of relationships and we can also see it as a place where crime can gain other ways of expression. Therefore, there are people, mostly the ones who are more conservative and adverse to change, who don’t not see technology as a good thing. These people point out that kids nowadays instead of playing with dolls which clothes were made by their grandmothers, spend their time watching films or playing videogames in their playstation or computer. Programmes like match.com or twitter changed the bases of relationships in an astonishing way considering the fact that people don’t even need to talk face to face to start dating or to make new friends.
In conclusion, despite all the advantages that the development of technologies has brought to our societies, the truth is that it brought also disadvantages and so, what matters is to measure this pros and cons and see the final result of these “wonderful” change. Would it be better to stay the same like in the 70’s? Is this change unavoidable? Is new technology that’s making all these changes or is the use that people take out of it?
